David's Daily Devotion for April 30

April 30, 2024 - Good Morning! It's Tuesday, April 30.

In 1885, a courthouse was built in Center, Texas. It was designed by an immigrant from Ireland, who created it to echo the ancient castles of his homeland. 139 years later, the Shelby County Courthouse remains one of the most interesting and beautiful buildings in Texas. And it is an appropriate setting for an event that is as old as America.

Even before the Declaration of Independence, men and women on these shores were declaring the importance of prayer in their lives. Twice a year, once in spring and again in the fall, people set aside special days for their community to pray. The one in fall evolved into Thanksgiving. The one in spring became the National Day of Prayer.

In 1988, President Ronald Reagan declared that this special day would be the first Thursday of May. And so, this Thursday (May 2) at noon, we invite you to our historic courthouse, to carry on a great American tradition.

Join us to pray!

Meet you back here tomorrow,
Bro. David
